Montreal (French: Montréal) is the largest city in the province of Quebec, the second-largest in Canada, and the tenth-largest in North America. Founded in 1642 as Ville-Marie, or "City of Mary", it is now named after Mount Royal, the triple-peaked hill around which the early settlement was built.
Montréal is a big, busy, exhilarating city, with so much to see and do. There’ll be plenty of long walks and bike rides, picnics at the park, street art hunts and time to discover the city’s many treasures.

- Bike or metro around. I’ve driven in plenty of countries around the world, and I’d have to say driving in Montréal is one of the worst experiences behind the wheel.
- Don’t spend all your time downtown. Montréal is designed to stuff all the tourists into the Old Port and Downtown, but so much of the city’s magic is in its neighborhoods like Le Plateau, Mile End and St-Henri.
