- While 1968's THE LOVE BUG shows its age, it still provides lots of entertainment. This movie seems to exist in a different Disney universe from that of the studio's earlier features: one populated by hippies, mock-mystic mechanics, and pants-wearing career women. Peter Thorndyke makes a fine villain: oily, bullying, and deliciously underhanded.

I was surprised at how much I enjoyed The Love Bug. It is such good fun, and I do agree that it is by far and away the best movie of the series. The story is simple but well structured and interesting and the dialogue has its fair share of very funny and somewhat poignant moments.
