Lier (Dutch pronunciation: ⓘ; French: Lierre, French pronunciation: ⓘ) is a municipality located in the Belgian province of Antwerp. It is composed of the city of Lier proper and the village of Koningshooikt. The city centre is surrounded by the river Nete, around which it grew. In 2018, Lier had a total population of 35,712.

- Zimmer Tower. Louis Zimmer, the Lier-born astronomer and clockmaker to the King of Belgium created the Jubelklok (Jubilee or Centenary Clock), which he donated to the city in 1928 to celebrate 100 years of Belgian independence.
- ZimmerMuseum. In 1960 a pavilion popped up next to the Zimmer Tower on the square. This was built to house another of Zimmer’s masterpieces, an enormous astronomical clock produced for the Brussels World Exhibition in 1935.

Lier, commune, Flanders Region, northern Belgium, located at the junction of the Great and Little Nete rivers, southeast of Antwerp. Probably settled in the 8th century, it developed around the Chapel of St. Peter (1225) on the site of an earlier wooden chapel.

Lier is a city of about 36,000 inhabitants (2018) in the province of Antwerp, Belgium. Lier is often overlooked by many international tourists, but can make an interesting day out from Antwerp or Mechelen. The town is southeast of the regional capital city of Antwerp.
