Port Said (Egyptian Arabic: بورسعيد, romanized:Bōrsaʿīd, pronounced [boɾsæˈʕiːd, poɾ-]) is a city that lies in northeast Egypt extending about 30 km (19 mi) along the coast of the Mediterranean Sea, straddling the west bank of the northern mouth of the Suez Canal.
Port Said, port city located in northeastern Egypt, at the northern end of the Suez Canal, and situated largely on reclaimed land. During the Suez Crisis (1956), which followed Egypt’s nationalization of the canal, the city suffered damage by air attacks and landings of French and British forces.
