St. Michael's Hospital is a teaching hospital and medical centre in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. It was established by the Sisters of St. Joseph in 1892 with the founding goal of taking care of the sick and the poor of Toronto's inner city.
St. Michael’s Hospital is a tertiary care teaching hospital. The hospital shares its neighbourhood with both the wealthy financial and cultural districts of Toronto and some of the poorest areas of the city.
St. Michael’s Hospital is the only level 1 Trauma Centre in downtown Toronto. It also houses the multidisciplinary Martin Family Centre for Arthritis Care and Research.
