Emanuel Lehman, who died ten years later, was also characterized as being “the same man in prosperity that he was when still at the foot of the ladder. Success never turned him from his beaten path of justice, mercy and modesty.”
Emanuel Lehman (born Mendel Lehmann; February 15, 1827 – January 10, 1907) was an American banker. He was the younger brother of Henry Lehman and the older brother of Mayer Lehman, and he was a co-founder of Lehman Brothers.
Henry Lehman is joined by his brothers Emanuel and Mayer, and their establishment becomes Lehman Brothers. 1858 Lehman Brothers transitions into the cotton commodity business and opens a branch in New York City.
