Join us for fun and interactive guided tours featuring stunning displays and a behind‑the‑scenes look at our state‑of‑the‑art facilities and production floor – where the magic happens! Guests can finish their tour in our boutique where they can mark their visit with a special souvenir.
Operating since 1908, the Royal Canadian Mint is one of the world's most respected manufacturers. The mint's Ottawa location makes coins for collectors, many of which commemorate important people and events in Canada's history. It is open daily, year round.
In 1979, the Royal Canadian Mint building in Ottawa was designated a National Historic Site, on the grounds the building is representative of the federal government's approach to using the Tudor-Gothic architectural style to create a distinctive identity in Canada's capital, and of the patriation of control over Canada's currency from Britain.
The Royal Canadian Mint can be found on the Ottawa River, just next to the National Gallery of Canada. The mint currently produces special-edition coins and investment pieces. Production of regular Canadian coins is done elsewhere.
