May 16, 2018 · We examine prepublication disclosure to general audiences across a wide array of fields and find that, except for engineering and computer science, disclosure is more common than not (as measured both by disclosure of a paper and our index of disclosing types), but there is substantial variation across fields, with social scientists and mathematicians being the most likely to disclose.
