James H. McGraw. James Herbert McGraw (December 17, 1860 in Harmony, New York – February 21, 1948) was co-founder of what is now McGraw-Hill Education. He was the president of McGraw-Hill from 1917 to 1928.
McGraw was the founder of both the magazine and book publishing empire. The firm originally specialized in publications for the technical field, but soon expanded into other disciplines, such as textbooks for colleges and high schools.
