Bethpage (formerly known as Central Park) is a hamlet and census-designated place (CDP) located within the Town of Oyster Bay in Nassau County, on Long Island, in New York, United States.
The growth of the town continued through the rest of the 19th century following the connection to the Long Island Railroad. Following the 1932 opening of nearby Bethpage State Park, the name of the local post office was changed to Bethpage on October 1, 1936.

While it was originally named Bethpage, many settlers in the community wanted the town to be called Central Park and in 1867 the local post office was renamed as the Central Park Post Office.
In 1824, the bank was incorporated and became the first bank in Brooklyn. [citation needed] The initial capital of the bank was $300,000 in $50 shares. Bank notes were issued from 3 August 1824. [1] [2] Its offices were at 7 Front Street in Brooklyn. The first President was Leffert Lefferts.
