In 1995, Holly and Tom Cooper had the opportunity to purchase a ranch owned by Tom’s parents near Placerville on a hillside about 2,700 feet in elevation. Holly, in real estate at the time, saw the land’s potential while Tom, an attorney, took more convincing.
