Winterbite is a new Exotic glaive in Lightfall, and it's the first time there has been both a Stasis and Heavy Glaive in the game. It fires a massive Stasis ball that can freeze enemies and deal huge damage, and it's a weapon you'll want strapped on your back if you plan on taking on the Root of Nightmares raid. Here's how to unlock the Winterbite for yourself.

There is a quest to unlock the Winterbite, but you won't be able to see it right away. After finishing the final mission in the Lightfall campaign, Desperate Measures, you need to head to the Hall of Heroes and complete the Welcome to the Hall of Heroes quest to start. You can find the Hall of Heroes by turning around and heading into the building in front of Nimbus, or you can check the map in your Director for a quest icon.

This introductory quest mostly explains itself. You need to go on an audio tour of the Hall of Heroes by interacting with various quest markers around the area. Continue interacting with them and visiting the damaged memorials to learn more. Once you're done, return to Quinn to start the questline proper.

Completing the previous quest will unlock the Stargazer quest. This sends you on a loop to complete the new Terminal Overload activity in Lightfall and unlocks the next quest in the chain.

Step One: Using the Neomuna map, find the Terminal Overload activity for the day and complete it to loot the chest at the end.

Step Two: Head to the Esi Terminal and find the marked Vex Hydra. Defeat it to find a passcode.

Step Three: Return to one of the three main zones on Neomuna and complete patrols or public events, or loot chests. You're looking for a Terminal Overload Key, which should drop within a few activity completions.

Step Four: Complete another Terminal Overload activity, this time using your Terminal Overload Key to unlock the extra chest at the end of the activity.

Step Five: Return to Quinn in the Hall of Heroes to repair Stargazer's mounment and pick up the next quest step.

You're helping Quinn repair damaged monuments to fallen Cloudstriders, and the next one of the docket is Maelstrom. Speak with Quinn after finishing Stargazer to pick up the Maelstrom quest. After you have it, head to the Vex Incursion Zone. You can find the current Vex Incursion Zone on your Neomuna map, noted by a green and purple icon.

Step One: In the Vex Incursion Zone, complete patrols and publics events and bond with two Strand sources. You can find Strand sources by equipping a detector mode on your ghost and looking around the area through a scope. These nodes stay active for 30 seconds and they give you Strand abilities on a rapid cooldown for a short time.

Step Two: Complete the Lost Sector within the Vex Incursion Zone. There are three Lost Sectors on Neomuna, once in each zone of the map. The Vex Incursion Zone may rotate, so complete the Lost Sector in the correct zone depending on the week you're playing. Here's where you can find them:

    •Thrilladrome - Liming Harbor

    •Hydroponics Delta - Zephyr Concourse

    •Gilded Precept - Ahimsa Park

Once you've finished the previous step, you can pick up the Bluejay quest from Quinn. Pick it up and visit Nimbus outside the Hall of Heroes to start the quest proper.

Step One: Head to the current Vex Incursion Zone with your Strand subclass equipped. Hang out in the area and defeat Vex to obtain Shellcode Fragments. They randomly drop when defeating Vex enemies, and you can track how many you have on the quest.

Step Two: Ensure you have a Terminal Overload Key in your inventory, and complete a Terminal Overload activity. At the end, the extra chest will drop the Polymorphic Engine.

Step Three: Return to Nimbus. With the Polymorphic Engine, you'll be able to pick up a new weekly bounty that unlocks the Partition activity within the Vex Incursion Zone. Pick up the bounty and head to the activity marker noted on your map.

Step Four: Enter the Partion activity and complete it. These are time trials through the Vex network that challenge you with racing down the path on your Sparrow. There are some enemies along the way, but try to ignore as many as you can. The goal is to defuse a bomb at the end of each segement, which despawns the enemies.

Step Five: After you've finished Partition, head back to Quinn to repair Bluejay's memorial and pick up the final quest in the chain.

The final quest in the chain is Strider, which will finally reward you with the Winterbite exotic. Pick up the quest from Quinn to start.

Step One: Complete a Terminal Overload activity in each of the three zones on Neomuna. Terminal Overload rotates daily, so you'll need to spread this process out over the course of three days.

Step Two: Head to Ahimsa Park and go through the Gilded Precept Lost Sector. You can see the entrance to the Lost Sector below. Defeat the Shadow Legion forces inside and loot the chest at the end.

Step Three: Go back to Quinn and repair's Strider's memorial in the Hall of Heroes.

Step Four: Head to Maya's Retreat (you can access it through Liming Park) and brace yourself for an attack. As you enter the area, Vex enemies will spawn along with a Vex Hydra that's marked with an icon. Destory the Hydra to spawn a conflux, and then interact with the Conflux to shut it down. Repeat this process as you push forward through Maya's Retreat.

Step Five: Return to Quinn to pick up your Winterbite Exotic glaive.
