When I go into my Files App in iCloud Drive, if I view my Documents Folder using List view it says I have 9 items but when I view my Documents Folder using Icon view, it says I have 8 items. I actually have 8 items but I want to know why, when I change to List View does the number of items increase by one.

When you open a folder in the Finder on Mac, you can display it in different views: Icon, List, Column, or Gallery. You can customize the view and even use it for other folders.
1.On your Mac, click the Finder icon in the Dock to open a Finder window.
2.Select a folder—for example, a standard folder in the Finder sidebar such as Recents or Desktop, or a folder that you created.
3.In the Finder toolbar, click a View button (the buttons may be in a pop-up menu; to show them in a row, make the window wider).
Try each view to see which one works best.
•Icon view : Items are shown as icons arranged in a grid. To change the icon size, choose View > Show View Options, then drag the “Icon size” slider.
•List view : Items are arranged by name in a list, and other columns show additional information. To sort the list in a different order, click a column header. To change which columns are shown, Control-click any column header, then choose columns to show or hide.
You can customize the view for a folder—for example, set the size of the icons and grid spacing in Icon view. You can also choose to always use the view for the folder, and use it for other folders.

3.Set options to customize the view for the selected folder.
Each view has various options. For example, you can specify how recent dates are shown in List view or hide filenames in Gallery view.
4.Choose whether to always use this view for the folder and for other folders.
Mar 14, 2024 · It’s pretty amazing just how long the Mac operating system has included a file browser called the Finder. Before there was Mac there was the Apple II, a groundbreaking home computer that launched Apple Computer back in the dawn of the computing era. It had a file browser that showed almost exactly the same icons for files, apps, and folders!
May 13, 2020 · Select the finder window you want to apply this view to, even the desktop. And set it to icon view. Go to the View menu and select "Show view options." A window opens up (like below) check the Show Item Info checkbox. Now folder icons will show the number of files in them for that window. Share.
Tag files. Select the file or folder, click the Tags button (or use the Touch Bar ), then enter a new tag, or choose one from the list. You can also Control-click the file or folder, then choose a tag from the shortcut menu. To quickly see tagged items, click a tag in the Tags section of the Finder sidebar. Nov 14, 2020 · 1. Changing the icon size brings the desired effect. Press Cmd + J and set the icon size to the larger version. Unfortunately, Apple customization is very strict. There are only two icon sizes in list view.
Jul 14, 2020 · To get started, right-click in an empty space on your desktop and select the "Show View Options" button. This screen will show you all the options for customizing the desktop icons. From the "Stack By" option, you can choose to group the Stacks by Kind, Date Last Opened, Date Added, Date Modified, Date Created, and by Tags.
