It sent us on a bit of a research quest: because of the pole’s somewhat rough workmanship and idiosyncratic designing but deeply sculpted style, I immediately thought that it looked like the work of the late Nuu-chah-nulth carver Jimmy John (1876 – 1988, from the west coast of Vancouver Island), but then I wondere...
