The Sydney Conservatorium of Music ( SCM) — formerly the New South Wales State Conservatorium of Music, and known by the moniker " The Con " — is the music school of the University of Sydney. It is one of the oldest and most prestigious music schools in Australia, founded in 1915 by Belgian conductor and violinist Henri Verbrugghen.
Level 1. Understanding and Recognition of Common Musical Symbols and Signs. Reading and Writing pitches in treble and bass clef. Reading Rhythmic Exercises in Simple Meters. Writing and understanding all major scales and their key signatures.
Through an integrated and research-based approach to music composition and analysis, student's knowledge of music theory and compositional techniques is extended. Skills in this area cover a range of musical styles including classical music (past and present), jazz, popular music and film music.
