Synopsis. The keen rivalry between Du Barry and La Pompadour for the favor of King Louis XV of France comes to a climax when La Pompadour intercepts a letter from Du Barry to Sir John Godric, an Englishman. Du Barry rescues the letter and destroys it before La Pompadour can carry out her plan of ruining her rival by showing the letter to the King.
