Nov 30, 2020 · The North Carolina Collection at UNC-Chapel Hill holds the most comprehensive collection of Sanborn® maps in North Carolina. The holdings range in date from the 1880s to the 1950s and cover more than 150 cities and towns across the state.
It provided the most up-to-date geographical representation available from the 1730s until 1770 when John Abraham Collet’s A Compleat MAP of NORTH-CAROLINA from an actual Survey was issued. The only specifically North Carolina maps to predate the Moseley map were the 1585 maps drawn by John White.
North Carolina Maps contains more than 3,000 maps, ranging in date from the late 1500s to 2000, and including detailed maps for each of North Carolina's one hundred counties.
