Greenwood is located in Johnson County, the fastest-growing county in the state of Indiana between 2010 and 2012. Greenwood residents number 53,000, and another 35,000 live just west of the Greenwood city limits in unincorporated Center Grove.
The northernmost city in Johnson County, located just south of the Marion County line, Greenwood is bounded by Graham Road on the east and S.R. 135 on the west, with additional unincorporated boundaries extending from S.R. 135 on the east to S.R. 37 on the west.
