Thái Bình ( Vietnamese: [tʰaːj˧˦ ʔɓïŋ˨˩] ⓘ) is a coastal eastern province in the Red River Delta region of northern Vietnam. Its name is chữ Hán (太平) for "great peace." It is about 18 km from Nam Định, 70 km from Haiphong, and 110 km from Hanoi. As of 2021, it had a population 2,196,442.
On the east coast of Vietnam’s Red River Delta Region, Thai Binh Province is known as the country’s “Homeland of Rice”. Throughout the province, towns and cities are bordered by green fields, sandy spots, and river views. Smaller in size, it’s one of the most historic areas of Vietnam.
