The lighthouse itself is picturesque, and the elevated views of Chatham Lighthouse Beach are spectacular. The area itself was made famous by the movie based on a true story, "The Finest Hours", so it also includes some great history. If you're a fan of lighthouses (and/or history), Chatham Lighthouse is a "must see".

The beach is located across the street from the Chatham Lighthouse. We stopped by late in the day to see the lighthouse but ended up taking a walk on the beach. Pretty area to sit and watch the water. Small, free parking area doubles for beach and lighthouse viewing.

Take Route 28 to the roundabout in Chatham, and from there follow Main Street through Chatham. Main Street will make a sharp right turn when it intersects with Shore Road. From this point, go south on Main Street 0.4 miles to the lighthouse. Public tours are offered by the local Coast Guard Auxiliary.
