It's a great place, we've lived here for seven years (previously Astoria) and are raising two young boys. If you like outdoors and hiking South Mountain Reservation is a stones throw away; has lots of trails, river, waterfall and there are some fishing spots. Also, Turtle Back Zoo is ten minutes away and is a fun place for kids.

Maplewood is a quiet place to live. Surrounded by woods and much wildlife it is very peaceful. Being on the border with Woodbury, shopping is excellent in Woodbury. Shopping is not up to good standards, when it comes to shopping. We do have some good restaurants. Maplewood is what I considered a sleepy town.
This area has the Maplewood Mall and the St. John's/M Health campus, with lots of medical office buildings, plus assorted retail. It's a great location for people who want proximity to both downtowns, yet be far enough out to enjoy suburban living. There's the chain of lakes (Phalen, Round, Spoon, Keller, Kohlman, Gervais) and their parks.
