The Night Stalker, a real-life serial killer and rapist named Richard Ramirez, is referenced throughout the movie as a significant character; however, he is used as a red herring for MaXXXine's true killer, Maxins' televangelist father, Earnest Miller.
It appears that MaXXXine takes inspiration from Ramirez and his crimes, but in the film, the serial killer seems to target young aspiring female actors in Hollywood. Thus, it is unlikely that the mysterious killer in MaXXXine will be someone resembling Ramirez.
He was later called the “Night Stalker” because he killed many of his victims by sneaking into their homes through unlocked doors and windows in the middle of the night.
