James Montgomery Doohan (/ ˈ d uː ə n /; March 3, 1920 – July 20, 2005) was a Canadian actor and author, best known for his role as Montgomery "Scotty" Scott in the television and film series Star Trek.

Doohan, who was 85, passed at his home in Redmond, Washington, due to complications from pneumonia and Alzheimer’s Disease.
