Dan Grodnik optioned the script in 1978 and hired Bennett Tramer to do a rewrite. Half way through the script, Tramer went to Grodnik and told him he had an epiphany, that he couldn't finish the sci-fi script as he just realized he was a comedy writer. He handed Grodnik the unfinished script with apologies.
Not one I will ever become obsessed over, but it’s got enough secret weapon sharks, government conspiracy, 2000’s video game graphics, non-acting and computer hacking to keep me entertained for 95 minutes. There’s also a supervisor with dwarfism who spouts some of the funniest lines in the movie.
