He is famous for his role in NBC's Frasier as the psychiatrist Dr. Niles Crane, for which he won four Primetime Emmy Awards. He has most recently appeared in The Good Wife as Frank Prady and Wet Hot American Summer: First Day of Camp as Henry Newman.
