Dorothy McGuire (June 14, 1916 – September 13, 2001) was an American stage and movie actress. She appeared in plays on Broadway , including Our Town and then starring in a comedy, Claudia . After being discovered to be a good actress on the stage, she had a more successful career in movies.
Born Dorothy Hackett McGuire, she was an only child who started her acting career in her hometown, at the Omaha Community Playhouse. She moved to New York City, New York and appeared on Broadway as an understudy to Martha Scott in "Our Town" and gained her own stardom in the domestic comedy "Claudia."
