Edmund Gonville and John Caius were the two founders of Gonville & Caius, and the College owes its character to the far-sightedness and individual contributions of both. Gonville, Rector of Terrington St Clement in Norfolk, first founded the College as Gonville Hall in 1348, dedicating it to the Annunciation of the Blessed Virgin Mary.
It is always open during the daytime and evening. There are usually ten services a week in term time, three of which are enriched by our renowned College Choir. The current music list is available here. The College Dean, the Revd Dr Cally Hammond, normally officiates at services but the College welcomes several visiting preachers per term.

In Cambridge, Hall is a place but also a big part of daily life. Eating together is considered very important at Caius, and our beautiful dining hall with its stained glass and many portraits is at the centre of the experience which brings together over 400 members to dine in College daily.
