During that stint, as well as his time as anchor for Sportsnet Connected 's nightly highlight shows from 2001 to 2014, Taylor was known for "his often hilarious delivery of sports highlights complete with impressions, catch phrases, and obscure sports trivia."
He was also on the coaching staff for the U.S. National team at the World University games in Italy and spent four years on the International Swimming Hall of Fame's Board of Directors. He is a member of the NAIA National Swimming Hall of Fame and was the recipient of a special recognition award from the International Swimming Hall of Fame.

Joining the honoured member ranks in May of 2024 are five athletes, three builder-coaches, one team, one pioneer, one media member and the winner of the prestigious W.A.C. Bennett Award.
Any person may nominate a former West Virginia University student-athlete, coach or administrator who meets the established criteria for selection into the WVU Sports Hall of Fame. Members of the athletic staff and coaches may submit names of recently eligible candidates as nominations.
