    In June of 1900 Archbishop Adelard Langevin OMI blessed the newly-built immigrant church in Winnipeg, naming it "HOLY GHOST". Holy Ghost Parish was the first pastoral centre for Polish people in Western Canada as well as the first parish for Catholic immigrants (Slovaks, Czechs and Germans).
