Feb 13, 2019 · Jóhann Jóhannsson Retrospective. Deutsche Grammophon is set to release a two-volume retrospective edition of Jóhann’s work. It will incorporate many of his major works, including The Miners’ Hymns, Arrival, Sicario, Orphée, and a previously unissued soundtrack album.
Like Jonny Greenwood’s plush score for The Phantom Thread, Retrospective 1 crafts lines that could be easily transformed into pop hits with their stickiness. But with a grand backing of violins, oboes and scattered synths, Jóhannsson turns them into more mysterious, bewitching beasts.
