Dame Kiri Jeanette Claire Te Kanawa, ONZ, CH, DBE, AC (/ ˈ k ɪr i t ə ˈ k ɑː n ə w ə /; born Claire Mary Teresa Rawstron, 6 March 1944) is a New Zealand opera singer. She had a full lyric soprano voice, which has been described as "mellow yet vibrant, warm, ample and unforced".
Kiri Te Kanawa, New Zealand lyric soprano who earned international acclaim and was best known for her repertoire of works by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart and Richard Strauss. Her first major success was as the Countess in Mozart’s The Marriage of Figaro in 1971.
