Andy Irvine & Paul Brady. There was a great sense of relief among the band members when Planxty broke up in November 1975. We were tired out and had no inspiration left. After a short period, the relief began to turn into a slight fear as to what we would do without Planxty!
When Planxty disbanded in late 1975, Brady formed a duo with Irvine from 1976 to 1978, a partnership that produced the successful album, Andy Irvine/Paul Brady. The next few years saw him establish his popularity and reputation as one of Ireland's best interpreters of traditional songs.

Aug 19, 2022 · Andy Irvine, a classical guitar student of Julian Bream, discovered American folk music in London via Woody Guthrie; he moved to Dublin in 1962 and soon joined a burgeoning Irish folk scene. Paul Brady grew up playing early rock and roll but joined the folk group the Johnstons, who left the British Isles for the Big Apple in 1972.
