Apr 28, 2020 · Anyone remember this movie? It was released 30 years ago as of yesterday. It is one of the weirdest movies in William Friedkin's filmography, and perhaps his biggest misfire. It has Jenny Seagrove playing a nanny/dryad who comes out of the woods to steal babies from upperclass LA families and sacrifice them to the tree she is bound to.
Feb 7, 2023 · Regarding the film 'Cruising', In his research director, William Friedkin worked with members of the Mafia, who at the time owned many of the city's gay bars. The film was intended to depict gay cruising as it existed at the Mineshaft, but that bar is not named in the movie because the Mineshaft would not allow filming.
Feb 1, 2020 · It succeeded in the sense of having a commercial pedigree---Friedkin was a straight, up and coming director, the studio was a shortlived CBS spinoff that made a number of major films, the distributor was second string but not just an art house operation). The film mostly played urban art house theaters, but even that was a novelty.

Dec 10, 2023 · I saw William Friedkin speak about the film at at TCM event. He said Jane Fonda and Audrey Hepburn were his two first choices for the role. Fonda said why would I want to take part in a capitalistic story like that and Hepburn would only do it if it shot in Europe.
Jun 11, 2020 · Julia Stiles--a fine actress who was the standout in "Mona Lisa Smiles" (starring the awesomely limited Julia Roberts, but also with such excellent actors as Maggie Gyllenhaal, Kirsten Dunst, and Ginnifer Goodwin in the cast) , but she didn't seem to have the fire in the belly to make it to the big leagues.

The most iconic videos would be from the eighties, maybe the first years of the nineties, when we all devoted a portion of our day to watching MTV. I always had a soft spot for Tom Petty and his music.
