C.E. Poverman. Charles Everit Poverman (born in New Haven, Connecticut) is an American fiction writer. Life and work. Poverman is the son of A. David Poverman, a surgeon and Helen Goldberg Poverman. He had an older sister, Judith, who died in 1995. [1]

C. E. Poverman has written several well-received novels but is particularly admired for his short fiction. His first book, the short-story collection The Black Velvet Girl, won the Iowa School of Letters Award for Short Fiction and introduced Poverman as a notable contributor to the genre.
