Herbert Manfred "Zeppo" Marx (February 25, 1901 – November 30, 1979) was an American comedic actor. He was the youngest, and last survivor, of the five Marx Brothers. He appeared in the first five Marx Brothers feature films from 1929 to 1933, and then left the act for careers as an engineer and theatrical agent.
Jul 1, 2021 · According to the Los Angeles Times, he died of lung cancer in 1979, age 78. While the three main Marx Brothers continued to perform until well after World War II, the younger two, Zeppo in particular, pursued other interests.
Zeppo Marx. Actor: Duck Soup. The youngest of The Marx Brothers, Zeppo was put into the role of the straight man after his brother Gummo left the act. Zeppo also acted as an understudy to all three of his brothers, and he has been said to have played Grouchos part better than Groucho himself.
