Death Takes a Holiday is a 1934 American pre-Code romantic drama starring Fredric March, Evelyn Venable and Guy Standing. It is based on the 1924 Italian play La morte in vacanza by Alberto Casella (1891–1957), as adapted in English for Broadway in 1929 by Walter Ferris.

Death (Frederic March) decides to take a holiday from his usual business to see what it is like to be a mortal. Posing as Prince Sirki, he spends three days with Duke Lambert (Sir Guy Standing) and his guests at his dukal estate.
On their way home from a carnival, Duke Lambert and his family and guests narrowly escape death in an auto accident caused by a mysterious shadow. At Lambert's Villa Felicitá, Lambert and his son Corrado, who is in love with Grazia, the daughter of Princess Maria, urge Grazia to marry Corrado soon.
