Desire (Italian: Desiderio) is a 1946 Italian melodrama film directed by Marcello Pagliero and Roberto Rossellini and starring Massimo Girotti, Elli Parvo and Carlo Ninchi.
Put on hold when the fascist regime fell, Desire was revived in 1946 by Marcello Pagliero with nary a railway worker in sight. Instead, the released film is about a small town girl named Paola (Elli Parvo) who tries to go home after spending two years in Rome, at least one of them as a sex worker.
