The nautilus (from Latin nautilus 'paper nautilus', from Ancient Greek ναυτίλος nautílos 'sailor') is an ancient pelagic marine mollusc of the cephalopod family Nautilidae. The nautilus is the sole extant family of the superfamily Nautilaceae and the suborder Nautilina.
