The First Texan is a 1956 American CinemaScope and Technicolor western film directed by Byron Haskin and starring Joel McCrea, Felicia Farr and Jeff Morrow. Produced by Walter Mirisch, it was shot in CinemaScope and distributed by Allied Artists. It is set during the Texas Revolution of the 1830s.

At the request of President Jackson, he leads the Texan independence movement and wins the decisive battle against the Mexican army to gain Texas independence.

In December 1832, attorney and former Tennessee governor Sam Houston rides into San Antonio, Texas, and stops at Pepe's hotel saloon. When would-be politician James Bowie, who is holding a meeting with his comrades, hears Sam's name, he entreats Sam to help liberate Texas from Mexico's rule.
