Block-Heads is a 1938 American comedy film directed by John G. Blystone and starring Stan Laurel and Oliver Hardy. It was produced by Hal Roach Studios for Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer. The film, a reworking of elements from the Laurel and Hardy shorts We Faw Down (1928) and Unaccustomed As We Are (1929), was Roach's final film for MGM.
With Stan Laurel, Oliver Hardy, Patricia Ellis, Minna Gombell. Stan, who has remained faithfully at his World War I post for twenty years, finally comes home where his best friend, Ollie, takes him in, thus allowing him to discover the many conveniences of the modern world.

Synopsis. The film opens in 1917, while Ollie and Stan are serving in World War I. Their unit is engaged in trench warfare in Cootie Avenue, France. When the unit receives orders to attack the enemy lines, Stan is ordered to stand guard at their trench until relieved from duty.
