Terry Uttley. 9th June 1951-16th December 2021. Bass guitarist Terry Uttley, one of the founder members of the band SMOKIE back in the 1970s sadly and unexpectedly passed away after a short Illness. Terry was a pupil at St. Bede's School in Bradford when the group was first formed and remained as the 'daddy' of the band throughout the decades.

Alan Silson had departed, to later form his own band with ‘Spirit of Smokie’ members including fellow original Ron Kelly, Andy Whelan and Graham Kearns. In March 2008 a Memorial Concert was held for Alan Barton, fronted by his son Dean Barton and just like that “Spirit of Smokie” was born.
