Rudolph George Perpich Sr. (June 27, 1928 – September 21, 1995) was an American politician and dentist who served as the governor of Minnesota from 1976 to 1979 and again from 1983 to 1991. A member of the Democratic-Farmer-Labor Party , he is labeled as Minnesota's 34th and 36th governor.

Democrat Rudy Perpich was Minnesota's thirty-fourth and thirty-sixth governor. The son of an Iron Range mining family, he was recognized for his innovative ideas, support of women, and emphasis on foreign trade.
Perpich, Rudolph George (“Rudy”) (b. 27 June 1928 in Carson Lake, Minnesota; d. 21 September 1995 in Minnetonka, Minnesota), governor of Minnesota known for his unusual ideas, which earned him the sobriquet “Governor Goofy.” Perpich was one of several children of Anton and Mary Perpich.
More than any previous Minnesota governor, Perpich promoted women in public office. He served with the state’s first female lieutenant governor, and appointed three women to the Court of Appeals as well as the state’s first female Supreme Court justice.
