Jun 8, 2021 · Makoshika is a sprawling mass of badlands layered with color and awash in classic badland formations like caprocks, hoodoos and natural bridges. The habitat is almost entirely rugged badlands with stands of juniper and pine, with some open native prairie at the “top” of the park.
Makoshika State Park ("ma-KO-sh(ih)kuh" from the Lakota Mako sica, meaning 'bad land' or 'land that is bad') is a nature preserve and public recreation area located on the southeast side of Glendive in Dawson County, Montana.

Makoshika State Park is beautiful state park with and the primitive camping is about good as it gets when it comes to primitive camping. There's quite a few hiking trials, a small museum and a gift shop at the Visitors Center.
