Seonjo (Korean: 선조; Hanja: 宣祖; 6 December 1552 – 6 March 1608), personal name Yi Yeon (이연; 李昖), was the 14th monarch of the Joseon dynasty of Korea. He was known for promoting Confucianism and attempting reforms at the beginning of his reign.
King Seonjo ruled in Korea between 1567 and 1608, as the fourteenth king of the Joseon Dynasty. At first, King Seonjo was dedicated to carrying out reforms that would benefit the people, but in later years he was seen as being greedy and corrupt.

- Sejong 세종 世宗. (Yi Do 이도 李祹) Dates: 15 May 1397 – 8 April 1450. Reign: 19 September 1418 – 8 April 1450. Where does one begin? King Sejong. If you don’t know his name, you’ve likely seen his statue in Gwanghwamun Square, downtown Seoul.

During and after the Seven Year War (1592–1598), he acted as the de facto ruler of the Joseon Dynasty, commanding battles and taking care of the reconstruction of the nation after the devastating wars, in the place of old and weak King Seonjo.
