Born in Philadelphia, the watercolorist Philip Duane Jamison, Jr., studied at the Philadelphia Museum School of Art (which became the Philadelphia College of Art and is now part of the University of the Arts). He eventually became an instructor of watercolor there from 1961 to 1963.
