Caroline of Brunswick-Wolfenbüttel (Caroline Amelia Elizabeth; 17 May 1768 – 7 August 1821) was Queen of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Ireland and Queen of Hanover from 29 January 1820 until her death in 1821 as the estranged wife of King George IV.
She danced at a ball in Geneva naked to the waist, and in Naples she became the mistress of King Joachim, Napoleon’s brother-in-law. In January 1820 King George III died and Prinny became King George IV and so Caroline became Queen.
George IV's relationship with his wife Caroline had deteriorated by the time of his accession. They had lived separately since 1796, and both were having affairs. In 1814, Caroline left the United Kingdom for continental Europe, but she chose to return for her husband's coronation and to publicly assert her rights as queen consort .

Caroline of Brunswick (17 May 1768 – 7 August 1821) was the wife of King George IV. Her parents were Charles William Ferdinand, Duke of Brunswick and Princess Augusta of Great Britain. Caroline married George on 8 April 1795, when he was the Prince of Wales. That made Caroline the Princess of Wales.
On this day (25 August) in 1821, the funeral of Queen Caroline, George’s estranged wife, took place in the cathedral of her hometown of Brunswick, Germany. Caroline had died in Hammersmith on 7 August 1821 aged 53, just three weeks after George’s coronation.
