The series follows secret agents Napoleon Solo, played by Robert Vaughn, and Illya Kuryakin, played by David McCallum, who work for a secret international counterespionage and law-enforcement agency called U.N.C.L.E. (United Network Command for Law and Enforcement).
Clearly an imitator of Ian Fleming's James Bond adventures and extremely popular with with college audiences, it had a solid, profitable four year run that spawned a host of imitators on the movie and television screen--not to mention a slew of toys and books for the commercial market.
