It is used 87 times in the New Testament for prayer and yet we don’t get too much insight into what this prayer is.
Kavanah is the word for the focused mindset recommended for prayer, i.e. of being before God and of what one is saying. While Jewish Law recognizes the legitimacy of prayer with minimal awareness, it requires knowledge of what one is saying in the first blessing of the Amidah.
Torah does not want us to pray — it wants us to daven. The true word of what we incorrectly call "prayer" is Tefillah, and learning about its true essence will completely change our experience with it and Hashem.
