Bogart plays Vincent Parry, an escaped convict trying to prove his innocence in the murder of his wife. Stowed away in a barrel on the back of a truck leaving San Quentin State Prison, Parry rocks the barrel back and forth until it falls off the truck and goes rolling down a hill.
Dark Passage. | 1947. Delmer Daves fought for his adaptation of David Goodis ’s The Dark Road to be filmed on real locations in San Francisco – still a big deal in 1947. The decision pays off with bags of noir atmosphere and the mournful sound of the city’s foghorn compensating for the implausibilities of the script.
