Aug 20, 2020 · To open an email template the way Outlook expects you to, you have to navigate to the "Home" tab, and then click New Items > More Items > Choose Form. In the "Choose Form" window, you then have to change the "Look in:" drop-down menu to "User Templates in File System." Finally, you can then double-click your template to open it.
- Launch Microsoft Outlook. Click the “Home” tab on the main menu ribbon. Click the “New Email” button.
- Enter the recipients’ email addresses and email subject into the applicable input fields at the top of the “New Email” window.
- Type “Memo” or the more formal “Memorandum” into the top of the email body text pane. Apply bold, underlined, font size and font face formatting to the text by clicking the relevant formatting button in the “Basic Text” group on the “Message” tab of the menu ribbon.
- Type “Date:” followed by the date of the memo immediately under the “Memo” heading. On a separate line, type “To:” followed by the recipients' names and job titles.
Note: To create an email message using a keyboard shortcut, press Ctrl + Shift + M. In the message body, enter the content that you want. In the message window, select File > Save As. In the Save As dialog box, in the Save as type list, select Outlook Template. In the File name box, type a name for your template, and then select Save.
- Click "New Email" in Outlook to open a new message window.
- Select the "Format Text" tab, and then click inside the message area to activate the ribbon options.
- Click the small arrow in the Paragraph group on the ribbon. Outlook opens a dialog box where you can change the paragraph formatting options to match the generally accepted business memo format.
- Set the Alignment setting to "Left" to left-justify your text.
